This paper considers ritual phenomena in the context of a naturalistic theory of religion. Â Religious traditions are described as mythic traditions, where myth is understood to be a narrative integration of cosmological and moral ideas. Â Ritual practices emerge as part of a cluster of strategies that function collectively to revitalize the power of the myth to influence the ways people think, feel and act.
